Attendance

17 chairmen or their representatives attended the meeting in Bracknell. There were about four apologies,

Numbers

There were 36 U3As in the Region before it adopted a new structure. 29 of those U3As have now joined the ‘new’ region, four have declared that they will not join and three have not yet made a decision.

The 29 U3As who have joined have between them about 7,300 members. Exact numbers will not be known until capitation is paid in April.

Family History Day, 12th March.

The room for the History Day at Rewley House holds 126 and this will include ten helpers and four main speakers. 70 of the remaining 112 places have already been taken up and it will now break even.

Venues for Regional Study Days.

The committee has been unable to find a venue near High Wycombe or adjacent areas (local U3A chairmen have been consulted but have no suggestions). It is also proving difficult to find a venue near to Amersham. This led to the chairman seeking views on finding a suitable location near to the geographic centre of the Region (Oxford) and hold all study days there. This was unpopular and the chairman will instead ask all U3As of the region to suggest suitable venues.

Managing Health in 3rd Age.

This is now likely to be in late June / early July and at a venue near to Amersham if one can be found. The view from the hall was that the event should concentrate on what people can do to minimise the deterioration of health in later years.
