M.O.T.O.
Early in 2003 there were one or two small gatherings of a group known as Solos Unite but this was not within U3A. The first applicants however voted a preference that any group they joined should come under the umbrella of Wokingham U3A.
With a lot of help from Committee members a new group was formed and named M.O.T.O. (Members on Their Own). The numbers rapidly rose from 14 to 37. There are now about 90 members in three groups of a maximum of 30 in each, with their own Group Leader.
Every month there is an Events Meeting at the Friends Meeting House in Denton Road when members are invited to propose ideas, research them and act as the contact. This has led to a huge variety of outings which any member of the group may join if they wish.
Our thanks to the overwhelming number of M.O.T.O members who have organised such successful and varied outings and in doing so have given much pleasure to other members and contributed to the success of M.O.T.O and of course U3A
