Personal Finance

This group, active for over ten years, meets at Woosehill Community Hall Upstairs Room at 2.15 pm on the 4th Tuesday of each month. Personal Finance is one of the ideal topics for the U3A founders' target of getting group members to share their individual experiences of personal and family finances with other members of the group. Whilst members regularly attend and contribute to meetings we aim to encourage their contributions to selecting new meetings topics and present some topics themselves.

For winter 2005 and for 2006 we aimed to concentrate on the key household utilities as selected and used by all families. These to include gas, electric, phone, supermarkets, garages, eating-out places, building societies, banks, investments, credit cards, internet (with/without broadband) up to car boot sales and Wills and other topics our members wish to discuss under the utilities our families use. Those with specific interests can be isolated for further meetings.

Our meetings are structured to be open, friendly occasions usually with 15 to 20 attendees to discuss the monthly topic/topics and allow all to gain something from the experience of others. Ideas are fully exchanged but we do not give financial recommendations or advice. Members do not provide details of their own financial affairs. As a friendly group we also via treasured volunteers provide coffee, tea and biscuits before each meeting with car parking behind the hall.
