Petanque (boules)
This group was started as a result of the Fresher's Fair in September 2004, with five members, none of whom had played more than a couple of times. With practice and a bit of internet surfing, we have improved, and now have 12 regular members. We have been introduced to the 48strong Swindon U3A group via U3A National Office, and have had joint sessions (not matches) home and away, where we have been shown strategy and etiquette.
Sessions take place at 10am on the first Monday of eavery month at Argyll House (tel.0118 976 0229) on Mole Road/Sindlesham Road, halfway between Winnersh and Arborfield on the B3030 running north-south between the two villages. We charge 50p to cover coffee and biscuits at 11.30, and telephone calls etc.
New members are welcome: we play throughout the year. No need to have your own boules, though once you start you may find them a useful present for a relative to buy for you.
