Following the announcement of the lock down, all Wokingham U3A activities ceased including team cycling.  At the first cyclists’ Zoom meeting we members all agreed it was difficult to motivate ourselves to get out and cycle solo and we were very aware of the commitment of the NHS front liners were making at the time.

So, the answer – a cycle challenge.  How far could each member cycle solo in 28 days?  How far would that take us?  Adding each individual cyclist’s target together we arrived at a distance of 2300 miles – the distance from Wokingham to Ankara.

Our challenge started on Saturday on 9th May and we are raising funds for NHS Charities Together, which is supporting NHS staff and volunteers caring for Covid19 patients.  If you would like to support us in this challenge please visit
