Group Description

Anyone who starts to learn a language soon appreciates that the active speaking part is the most difficult.

We are keen to encourage people to speak German and use a variety of means to do so such as

“How do you say that in German sentences”

“Describe in German  what you see in the Picture”

At the same time we are reading German short stories and translating them, acting out some German short plays, playing German Countdown, some novelty items like “ Name that Tune” from the German translations and Quiz Questions in German.

Another main part of the learning is listening to spoken German, particularly German spoken slowly and one of the areas we concentrate on is increasing vocabulary such that people are equipped with essential words to be able to communicate .

We also us various means to study different aspects of  German grammar .

Most important in our group is injecting some fun into the proceedings and keeping it fresh .

We are currently meeting via Zoom.

We would welcome any interest from new members but it is important to point out that a reasonable knowledge of basic German is required.
