Whatever your definition of “great”, there are thousands of great men and women in the world; both alive and dead. Certainly enough to keep a U3A group busy for years!! How would you like to do some research and share this with this group that started in August 2012?
The group will be meeting on a monthly basis and a list of people to be researched and investigated, agreed by the group, is already being drawn up for the first year’s meetings. Each member of the group chooses who, or which aspect of someone’s life, they would like to research. They then feed back their new-found knowledge to the group at the next meeting. There is also time for a general discussion about the person and what they did, etc, at each meeting so giving all members a chance to feed into the conversation. The options are endless and could be tailored to members’ interests and knowledge.
The group meets, in different members’ homes. Topics for the first meetings included Edith Cavell, Beethoven, Emperor Constantine, Aneurin Bevan and John Henry Newman. A wide range, as you can see!!
If you are interested and would like to join the group, please contact the convenor.
