This group is for members who would like to make writing both enjoyable and rewarding for themselves. By reading and discussing models of how to write in different genres, we explore what contributes to effective writing styles. The aim is to help members improve their own writing and open up new avenues of interest. There is no set programme to be covered; the group investigates ways of writing that members think might be relevant to them and interesting for the group. Each member of the group takes it in turn to present a piece of writing they liked, and could be worth learning from. ‘Critical friend’ appreciation of each other’s written drafts is encouraged, possibly to assist with early stages in the process of publication, for group members who might be interested in e.g. magazine publication.
