From ‘Croydon to Hounslow’ is the story, history and politics of the London Airports starting at Croydon in the early 30s and finishing, via various intermediaries, at Heathrow in the mid 60s – the beginning and end of the Golden Period of civil aviation.
The story embraces the challenges of the move from Croydon to Heathrow, the types of aircraft, the flying experiences and routes before, during and immediately following the war years and some of the personalities involved.
