I’m sure you will remember Marcia who visited us last year with her marvellous talk about volunteering in Nepal. Since then she has trained as an ambassador for GOSH and will be here to tell us the history of the hospital, how it evolved and some of the notable people who have played a special part in its history.
She will also explain some of the medical advances that have been made and bring some case studies of the young patients and their families. She will tell us of the ongoing challenges the hospital faces to find new cures so as to give world class treatment in the years and decades to come.
Marcia originally trained as a paediatric nurse. Now, as well as her voluntary work for GOSH, she is a volunteer with ‘Young Epilepsy’, a charity supporting families and children with epilepsy. She attends an epilepsy outpatient clinic once a week to provide information and a listening ear.
