Book Group 'A' was started in September 1995 by a small group of dedicated readers and whilst there have been only a few comings and goings, we are still an enthusiastic group of regular attendees. Wokingham Library provides a wide selection of book sets which are available for borrowing through their Books Collection Service. (A small sum is collected each year to cover the cost of the annual subscription for the Wokingham Book Group Collections Service.)
We plan the calendar for the coming year by each member choosing a book for a particular month, which they will introduce, giving information about the author and posing questions which lead to intersting discussions. This programme includes a diverse range of books including modern novels, classics, and biographies. This enhances our knowledge of authors and subjects.
However, for one month in the year, we choose our own book (BYOB) which we obtain from bookshops, charity shops, online, from friends, family, or even from our our bookshelves - wherever. We take it in turns to host each meeting, and after a lively and stimulating discussion on the month's choice, tea and biscuits are served with time for a general chat.
