Logging into the website - trouble-shooting
To log in you’ll need to enter your Username, which is in your welcome email or renewal confirmation email. If you can’t find it, please click here to contact us and we will send it to you.
If you can’t remember your password or have not yet set one up, use the Forgot Password link on the login screen to set a new password - and see guidance below about landscape orientation. (Again you will need to enter your Username).
Using the website on a mobile device
When using a mobile device, the Wokingham u3a website is optimised for landscape view - so it’s best to turn your Smartphone sideways to change the orientation. This is especially important when using the Forgot Password option on the login screen to set up your password for the first time, or to set a new one if you have forgotten it, as you won't be able to see the Reset button if you are in portrait mode.
If this doesn’t work - i.e. the screen doesn't change to landscape mode, you may have "portrait orientation lock" on. Instructions on how to turn this off are given below for iPhone and Android.
See also the note at the bottom of the page about auto-filling passwords.
Turning off portrait orientation lock:
These instructions were correct at the time of publication, but if they don't work for you, please search on line for 'how to turn off portrait orientation lock' + your phone type.
iPhone:
Swipe down from the top-right corner of your screen to access the Control Center, then tap the orientation lock icon.
Tapping on it will turn off or on the screen rotation feature for your phone when in apps that support it.
Android:
Swipe down from the top of the screen on the notification bar.
Depending on how you have your phone set up, you may need to pull down a second time to show more of your quick toggles.
Find the auto-rotate toggle that looks like a rectangle with two arrows circling it and tap on it.
Tapping on it will turn off or on the screen rotation feature for your phone when in apps that support it.
Face ID for authentication when auto-filling passwords:
If you are using an i-Phone or i-Pad and decide to save your login details on your phone, to be auto-filled each time you log in, you may find that Face ID is required to log in. For Face ID to work you will need to be in portrait orientation. So you'll need to log in while in portrait mode before turning your phone to landscape.
This can be switched off: go to Settings > Face ID & Passcode and then disable the Password Autofill option. However, this means you'll have to manually type all your passwords when needed.
